Rose in Hand — Design Story
I designed a rose and printed it to prove to my wife that our 3D printer isn’t just sitting at home collecting dust. This one actually came out even better than I expected—I’m really surprised and super happy with the result!
From the very beginning, my goal was to create a rose that would be lightweight, easy to print, and comfortable to hold.
The design is divided into three parts: the bud, the sepal, and the stem, with no leaves, keeping it simple and elegant.
On actual reprint testing, the model used only 20g of filament and took about 1.3 hours to complete — making it both material-efficient and beginner-friendly. 🌹✨
If you are satisfied with it, I’d be truly grateful for your support. Thank you so much!
And if you have any suggestions for improvement, please feel free to share them — I’ll do my best to make it happen.
This vase in the picture is my own design — “Lilt Vase” and “Whisper Vase”, and it’s available for everyone to download and use.
2025.9.24 In the V2 update, I redesigned the stem’s proportions and curvature to enhance the overall balance and aesthetics.
2025,9.26 In the V3 version, further improving upon V2, I adjusted the size of the rosebud and refined the petal shapes. The entire flower can now be printed without any supports.
2025.9.27 Enlarged the rosebud’s base connection hole to ease assembly and reduce finger strain.
2025.9.27 Besides the original 14 cm stem, two longer versions (16 cm and 18 cm) have been added.
2025.9.29 Adjusted the rosebud’s design to improve print quality at the base, reducing defects caused by shallow angles.
2025.10.2 In version V3.2, I adjusted the flat area at the bottom of the stem to minimize it as much as possible. Except for the top connecting part that still requires support, the stem itself can be printed without supports, which helps reduce the unwanted marks that supports usually leave.
2025.12.14 — Added a larger flower bud, expanded sepals, and a stem with leaves. These options are available for those who wish to display the flower in a vase.
2026.3.16 In V3.4, using Bambu Studio print settings, the thickness of the sepals has been adjusted so that they are no longer prone to breaking. Additionally, the diameter of the joint tenon connecting the stem and flower bud has been increased for a tighter fit without the need for glue.
My daughter loved this rose so much that she asked for a smaller version to wear as a ring 💍
So I made a mini rose ring — it’s cute, simple, and comes in 6 sizes!
The daisy shown in the photo is my latest design, and it pairs perfectly with this model :
