Description

This is a parametric generator of dowel pins with various polygon profiles that can be printed horizontally for increased strength.

 

The following parameters can be configured:

Advanced:

SidePolygon side length
BevelHeightHeight of bevel. The actual height will vary depending on specified bevel angle
BevelAngleAngle of bevel made with the vertical axis
RoundingRadius for rounding corners
NozzleDiameter of the nozzle is used to compute the minimum side length

 

Notes:

  • Diameter will be computed considering the first non-zero parameter in the following order: Diameter, Circumradius, Inradius or Side. If all are equal to zero, then Diameter will be computed given a side length of 1.2 mm or 1.6 mm (0.2-0.6 or 0.8 nozzle), ignoring rounding radius.
  • The print profile is for demonstration purposes. However, because they have no bevels and rounded corners, the pins on the plates 1 - 3 can be scaled (without uniform scale) to meet your specific requirements for length (Y axis) and diameter (X and Z axis). For adjusting pins with bevels and/or rounded corners (plate 4), please regenerate them with the desired measurements.
  • Please take into account your specific case, machine and print settings (measurements, tolerances, shrinkage etc.).
  • Clean the build plate, use glue and/or configure brim ears to improve bed adhesion, like shown in the print profile, especially when generating longer pins, with small diameter or a greater number of sides or any combination of these factors.
