Boost Me (for free)

Thank you all for all your lovely boosts so far! they really go a long way, we collect points and 100% goes back into more filament and printer spares. Every one of you who have boosted before has helped grow and develop our brand, were almost 1 year old and cant wait to see where the next year takes us.

Hi,

Cairn Focus3d is a small Scottish engineering company that so far has 1 employee (Me).

The other non 3d printing part of my business takes me all over the world to see some amazing places and people but home is always where the heart is.

Our Interest in the outdoors lead to our company name (Cairn). A Cairn is a pile of rocks usually on a mountain peak or ridge that can safely guide you when visibility is poor, like a lighthouse keeping a ship from grounding in bad weather. Its not just Scotland that uses cairns the Inuit people use them in the Arctic too they call them “Inuksuk”. The world over people use these simple structures by “layering” Rocks together to help strangers and likeminded people which is what we have aimed to do from the start.

Thanks all who have supported us so far and been our “Cairns” guiding us along,

Here is a topographical tray or wall decoration of my home country's highest mountain Ben Nevis. Its not the highest in the world neither is Scotland the largest country in the world but for such a small place we have huge history of bringing the world some pretty good stuff.

Thanks & Enjoy

hello I'm Nacho from Spain... I like your designs this one seems impressive. by the way in Spain your company's name would be hito or mojón... hehe which also has another meaning. Do you have any tutorial on how to make models like this of a mountain or place with its contour lines?? Many thanks for your work

Hello Nacho! yeah I've heard of a few funny English/Spanish translations, a few car models in the UK have different names in Spain for this reason. I don't have any tutorials yet but I am considering launching a YouTube account that will do some for Plasticity. I have only been doing this for 12 months but have a lot of "on the tools" engineering experience. tutorials helped me so I hope to help others soon! thanks for your review
