HMS Nelson (1931) british battleship model, 1:650
Print Profile(1)

Description
Description:
I present you my first ship, remodeled from shetches you also can find on the world wide web. This is a 1:650 scaled model of a british flagship of the second world war, HMS (his majestic ship) Nelson (named after Horatio Nelson) (1931). The goal was simple, achiveing as many details as possible and presenting all the important moveable mechanics (15 rotating guns with a total of 27 separately tiltable gun barrels).
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY, BECAUSE YOU MAY FIND SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION !
Printing:
- I used the "0,12 mm layer height high quality" print profile.
- 10% infill.
- 3rd plate:
- ironing on all upper surfaces (not all layers).
- 4th plate:
- I used 2x0,1 mm raft layers on smaller pieces, so they dont come off the plate
- enable supports, only the 3 main turrets (biggest ones) need manual support from the plate
- printing speeds reduced on outter walls to 25-30 mm/s and inner walls to about 50-60 mm/s
- 5th plate:
- I added a pause to the print so you can change filament for the text “HMS Nelson (1931)”
Note: it is important to clear your plate before printing, or use gloves to prevent contamination
Assembly:
- The assembly can be done WITHOUT GLUE (!).
- Pushing the barrels into the guns may require some force as i used very little tolerances (0,1 to 0,2 mm most places).
- The propellers are not meant to be rotated because they can break quite easily.
- The assembly is prety straight forward, but I will add a detailed guide later on if I deem it necessary based on the feedback.
Recommended color options:
- No AMS needed.
- There are a couple pauses in the program at the following layers:
- 1st plate start with black and change filament at layer 14 (1,76 mm) → red
- 2nd plate start with wood (birch/wallnut) and change filament at layer 25 (3,08 mm) → grey
- 3rd plate grey
- 4th plate grey
- 5th plate start with gray/any color and change filament at layer 25 (3,08 mm) → black
- Feel free to use any other color you like.
- Smaller adjustements and adding details are comeing in the near future.
Enjoy your printing. :)
