IKEA KROKIG – Add-On Hooks & Extension Kit (3D-Printable)

Give your kid’s KROKIG clothes stand a second life with extra hooks and a taller top!
This set adds either a single hook or a 3-branch “tree” hook plus a spacer/connector ring, all designed to slide onto the pole and lock together around a simple M8 threaded rod.

What’s included

• Single Hook – one long, rounded arm for bags, caps, or jackets.
• 3-Branch Hook – three compact arms for lighter items.
• Connector/Spacer Ring – stacks between sections and keeps everything aligned.
• Captured-nut core – inside the top piece, ribs center the rod and seat an M8 nut.

Hardware you’ll need

• M8 threaded rod – length depends on how much height you’re adding (typically 25–40 cm for one or two new tiers).
• M8 nuts: 2 pcs (one captured inside the top piece, one for the very top).
• M8 washer: 1 pc (under the top nut to protect the plastic).
• Optional: M8 cap nut for a clean finish.

Assembly (5–10 minutes)

1. Cut the M8 rod to length; deburr the ends.
2. Drop one M8 nut into the top printed cup (it’s a snug, captured seat).
3. Feed the rod down through the printed parts: top cup → hook → spacer(s) as desired.
4. At the top, add the M8 washer and nut (or cap nut).
5. Tighten until the stack is firm. Do not overtighten—just snug enough that nothing wiggles.

Printing recommendations

• Material: PETG (best balance of toughness) or ABS. PLA works but can creep under constant load in warm rooms.
• Layer height: 0.2 mm.
• Walls/Perimeters: 4–5.
• Infill: 30–40% gyroid/cubic.
• Supports: Not required for the ring; hooks may need minimal supports under the tips depending on your printer.
• Orientation: Print hooks lying on their side so the arm’s length runs with the layer lines for better bending strength.
• Brim: 3–5 mm brim helps prevent lift on the long hook.

Fit & scaling

Designed for a snug push-fit on the original IKEA KROKIG pole. Tolerances can vary with printers and filament—if your pole fit is too tight/loose, scale the hook bodies ±1–2% uniformly.

Load & safety

These parts are for light household use (kids’ clothes, hats, scarves, small bags). Avoid hanging heavy backpacks or anything that could create a lever slam. Always check for cracks and retighten the top nut if the stack loosens over time.
