TTArtisan 100mm Manual Focus Gear for Nauticam Underwater Housing
This is a manual focus only lens, so it greatly benefits from having a custom focus gear for use in an underwater housing. Since there are not commercially manufactured focus gears for this lens, I was happy to make one for fellow photographers.
The gear works well, and it all fits very cleanly, turns easily. I used a PETG for the gear and a TPU sleeve that grips the focus ring of the lens. It should slip on with a little effort and grips well. If the grip is too loose, you can add a strip of black electrical tape to the outside of the TPU ring for a snugger fit. Slide the TPU friction ring over the lens from the base, with the Rim of the ring away from the base. Align the base of the TPU ring with the bottom on the focus grip of the lens. The gear then slides over the sleeve, with the collar up and the gear part toward the base.
Put your camera minus the lens in the housing without a port installed. Take the assembled Lens+Gear and mount it to the camera. Ensure the focus gear aligns well with the gear sprockets of the housing. If they are not align, adjust the position of the TPU ring on this lens to adjust.
