Ragusian Galleon – 1:87 Scale Replica
Step back into the maritime golden age of Dubrovnik with this 1:87 scale model of a Ragusian Galleon. Built in the 16th and 17th centuries, these galleons were the pride of the Republic of Ragusa (modern-day Dubrovnik, Croatia). While famous as swift and elegant merchant ships, they also served as war galleons, carrying cannons and soldiers into naval battles against corsairs and rival fleets. They were versatile vessels – trading peacefully in the Adriatic and Mediterranean, yet ready for combat when the Republic’s independence was threatened.
⚓ Model Details:
- Designed in 1:87 (HO) scale, suitable for dioramas, naval battle scenes, or standalone display.
- Available in two build styles:
- Full hull with stand – for a display piece.
- Waterline version – ideal for battle or harbor dioramas.
- Two rigging options:
- With sails, for a dynamic look.
- Without sails, showing only the yards, for a more technical appearance.
🛠️ Assembly:
- Moderately challenging but straightforward – no manual required, parts fit logically.
- Tools recommended: superglue and a pair of small clamps.
- I also added threads for rigging to my build, which gives the ship a more realistic and battle-ready appearance – highly recommended for anyone who wants to enhance the detail.
