Description

Description

This mount has been designed to mount a cell phone to the Ninebot KickScooter MAX G30. This is my design that has gone through the most iteration so far in order to get a great fit for both the scooter and my phone, which is an iPhone 15 Pro Max including its protective case. I was getting tired of having to remove my phone case in order to fit it in commercial mounts, so I decided to design my own. This is very practical whenever you want to use your phone in a handsfree manner (like following your GPS or playing Pokemon Go). You also have 3 viewing angle options, which are Flat (i.e. parallel to the ground), 25 degrees and 30 degrees. I prefer the 25 degrees one, but your preference may vary based on your use case and height.

Here are the parts to print:

  • Under Parts: consist of 2 halves that will hold the top part with 2 screws each.
  • Top part: top part that goes over the handlebar and that gets assembled with under parts using 4xM5 screws and nuts.
  • Sleeve lower part: longer sleeve part that slides onto the top part rails and in which you slip your phone from the top.
  • Sleeve upper part: smaller sleeve part that clips into the sleeve lower part and that secures your phone into the mount.

P.S.: I may design some adapters for different models in the future, so stay tuned.

Features

  • Allows you to insert your phone in the sleeve without removing its protective case.
  • You can either insert the phone in the sleeve and clip it, and then slide the sleeve on the mount top part or you can just leave the sleeve lower part on the mount at all time and just open the sleeve top to slip your phone in and out of it.
  • Convenient clips located on both sides of the slipe are easy to open by pressing them inward and pulling the sleeve top.
  • Secure your phone without sacrifing any screen area.
  • 3 viewing angle options on 3 separate plates provide a tailored fit for your preferred experience.
  • Integrated camera lens molding on the sleeve ensures perfect fit.

Instructions

  • Install under parts and top parts on the scooter handlebar.
  • Insert M5 nuts in the top parts hexagonal holes.
  • Install screws going from the under parts upward to the top parts.
  • Slide the sleeve bottom part on the mount rails all the way through.
  • Slide phone into the sleeve and then secure it by clipping the sleeve top part on top of it.
  • To remove the phone, simply press the sleeve clips inward with your fingers and pull the sleeve top part in order to free the phone.

Notes

  • I printed all parts using ABS, so that it will withstand outdoor conditions and direct sunlight way better.
  • Screws are to be installed upwards, so that you won't struggle with falling nuts while doing it.
  • Nuts hole are tight fit, so press firmly in order for them to go all the way through, or you might struggle join the under and top parts together.
  • Printed using generic ABS with minimal supports only for the sleeve connectors - consider adding some to the top part if you struggle with overhangs.
  • You'll need extra material to assemble under and top parts:
    • 4 x M5 hexagonal nuts
    • 4 x M5 25mm screws

Considerations

  • I recommend weather-resistant material like PETG, ABS or ASA to prevent premature mount degradation.
  • I've ran more than 200 km with the mount so far and it remained in place, although you have to be careful if you hit bumps at high speed, as strong sudden vibrations might open the sleeve and eject your phone. This should be common sense, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
  • You might need to slightly adjust the sleeve fit depending on your case. For reference, I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max with the “Cunning” case by KaseMe and I have an exact fit.
