Description

This adapter makes it possible to use 250 g Sunlu spools (or other spools with 140 mm diameter) in the Bambu AMS. It was successfully tested with a 13-hour multicolor print using 5 colors and delivered reliable results.

The design is very filament-efficient and requires only about 30 g to print each side, so your 250 g spool will not be consumed just for making the adapter. It is easy to print without special settings and simply clips onto the spool for quick use.

A practical and clean solution to integrate small spools seamlessly into your AMS.

These things are incredible. I got a giant tote of sealed 250’s as part of a deal I made and have tried a couple other adapters. these are the GOAT in this space. stop looking around and print this. I even like them so much I printed 8 sets and I created a wall mount to keep them neat n tidy when not in use. big big shoutout to the designer here, this is a stroke of genius.

Hopefully you figured it out but yes print 2, then line up the peg and hold and snap into place on both sides of your spools. These things work perfect.

I mistakenly bought small spool Sunlu PLA, and found out real fast that I needed a spool to fit it into to make it work with my AMS. The first iteration I tried was way too thin and flimsy. It wobbles when being spooled off. I then found this design, and it works WAY better!

I printed the test ring and none of my Sunlu 250s fit. They’re too small! Like. By ALOT. Am I doing something wrong? dimensions are 118mm x 35mm w a 42mm spool hole.

Maybe they also produce smaller spools. I adjusted the model so you can try again. You can find the test model and the actual print under STL/CAD Files if you expand the section using the arrow, at least in the PC browser version of MakerWorld. I have not tested whether they work because I do not have a spool of that size, but you are welcome to try it. For the design, the wall thickness of the spool would also be important, and it may vary from the spool that the model was originally designed for.

Ok they fit now. Thanks. However, I have a new problem. The walls are solid. No triangular pattern. And it makes the real feel rather heavy. It’s causing my AMS to bog down a little.

Wonderfully designed. Works great in the AMS 2 Pro and allows them to be stored in the same way as the larger spools, drying, etc. DO NOT PRINT IN PLA. I used PETG and I could see the thin design failing quickly with PLA.
