Description

This is a replacement vent register / louver for 1973–1979 Ford trucks. The original parts are  hard to find and expensive, so I decided to model one myself as close to the factory design as I could. It’s only the second 3D model I’ve ever made, but I spent a lot of time checking the details to make sure it works like the original.

The model has all the pieces:

The outer housing with four snap clips

The inner section which holds all the fins

The Plate which has two pins that go into the inner section and allows the fins to be mounted

The Arm which connects all the fins so they move together

4 regular fins and 1 fin with a finger nob that goes in the middle

Printing tips

  • The outer housing needs to be printed upright (with the tall side facing up). If you print it flat, the clips will line up with the print layers and they’ll snap off when you push it in.
  • I recommend PETG or PETG-CF. It’s strong, has some flex, and holds up well. I haven’t tested other filaments.
  • Use a brim for stability and supports I used normal supports (not tree) as tree didn't work well for me

Assembly is tricky and requires to hold the 2 plates while inserting the fins into the holes and arm I will post a assembly guide if someone needs it.

This isn’t a perfect model, but it’s a solid replacement option if you need to get your truck’s vents working again without paying $60+ for a rare OEM part.
