Description
I wanted to improve the cooling for my Asus Prime 5080 and at the same time fill a little bit more space in the case. I see there are deshroud versions out there for this card but I didn't like the overall esthetics so I created my own. Most what I see out the, the fans are flush mount against the heatsink so there are fins on the heatsink that aren't getting active air flow. In my version here there is a 10mm transitioning zone going from the 2x 120mm square fans to the rectangular heatsink so all the fins should see air flow.
The OCCT screenshot and thermal images is after 10 minutes of runtime at 400W load using 50% fan speed for the Arctic P12 Pros fans. The temperature peaked around 68C. At 100% fan (jet engine mode) the temperature peaked at 60C.
Here is a realistic run using 300W at 39db (Iphone app) before and after the shroud change.
Before:
Stock triple fans: 60% fan speed (around 1800rpm) 10 minute run: 70C
After:
2x Arctic P12 Pro: 34% fan speed (around 1280rpm) 10 minute run: 64C
Normal usage:
3000 Mhz at 915 mv with +3000 on the memory at 260W: 59C
The overall dimension change:
I'm not sure if this is still consider SFF but the overall length didn't change. The width of the card is 120mm (width of the fans) and the thickness is 70mm.
Mounting:
I reused all the existing hardware on the card. 6x M2 through the backplate and 2x M3 on the IO cover.
Shroud requires 10x M3x5x4 heat inserts.
I have to assume you have a 3D printer if you are here. Just in case you don't have a printer but still interested here is a link.
