Description

I've bought many different toolbox organization systems over the years but there were always tradeoffs in terms of spacing and length. I've seen a number of modular systems that clip together but I wanted more options for customization. I wanted to maximize the space in my toolbox since I have a lot of sockets, ratchets, & extensions and not a ton of space.

The system allows rows of 40mm or 50mm width with different increments of spacing based on what you need for your 1/4, 3/8, & 1/2" Ratchets. It's designed to be compatible with my Socket Organization System which you can find here:

https://makerworld.com/en/models/1749163-ultimate-modular-socket-organizer#profileId-1859386

I made two versions of each holder – one that has “tails” so you can connect it to an adjacent holder and one without tails. This gives you the ability to end a row of ratchets without needing a cap to cover the unneeded tails. Also, if you want to place holders in separate from other sockets and ratchets, you can do so for a clean look. The build plates have one of each variation grouped by Ratchet size – 1/4, 3/8, & 1/2 so you can mix and match to suit your needs. I also included end caps and fillers so you can accommodate the layout that is most pleasing to you. I printed mine in Bambu Green PLA but of course you can make them in any color you like.

Each holder has a hole under it where you can insert optional magnets to hold everything in place. I use a dab of super glue under each and use a pair of pliers to push the magnet into the hole. If you don't glue them, you may leave your magnet behind when you try to move them around in your toolbox.

  • Most take a 1/2"x3/16" Neodymium magnet that can be purchased on Amazon via my affiliate link: https://amzn.to/3VwOuhD
  • The1/4" holders and some of the 3/8" holders use a 3/8x1/8 Neodymium magnet which can be purchased here: https://amzn.to/4ncf7Vg
  • This Super Glue is good – it's medium viscosity which seems to work well. https://amzn.to/3HWIg7I
  • I use a pair of pliers to press the magnet into the holder like these: https://amzn.to/4662ILt but any pair of channel lock type pliers will work as well.

Boost Me (for free)

If you find these models useful, please consider boosting me. I've had a lot of boosts expire without giving them to other creators so if not me, give them to someone!

I intentionally didn't base these on Gridfinity because I wanted maximum flexibility and the 42mm grid would force me to waste more space than I wanted to. That said, I can create a Gridfinity version if there is demand.

Please provide any suggestions for improvement and I'll do my best to iterate the design.

I'm also working on a set of Extension holders for this system so you can put all socket and ratchet related items in the same drawer. Keep an eye out as I hope to publish those soon.
