Description
This replacement strap is intended for printing with TPU filament. It is stronger and more versatile than the original which tends to break in the corner from using the strap as a carrying handle. This strap has several advantages over the original:
- curved fillet design adds strength in the corners where the bottle and cap rings attach, eliminating common failure point
- TPU material is much harder to tear than original (nylon? HDPE?)
- bottle ring is slightly tighter than the original, ensuring the bottle will not slip out, especially given TPU can stretch a little.
- carabiner loop provides convenient attachment to backpacks, belt loops etc. next to the bottle itself so it won’t be as prone to swinging around.
- Updated version puts biner hole closer to lid so hanging stress pulls on stronger, tighter lid side of strap than bottle side. You pick which you like more.
- UPDATE 2025 - I added a strap with BOTH holes. Why not? One print, you pick how best to attach to fit your needs. It seems to me that using BOTH holes at the same time with a carabiner might hold the bottle vertical, or maybe you can attach something else to the second hole. Who knows, but options, right?
The strap is the same length as the original for a 500ml (16oz) Nalgene bottle. The cap freely turns to unscrew from the bottle just like the original.
Printed with Overture Black TPU filament, .15mm layers, 100% infill using the Prusa Mini+. Used the generic FLEX filament setting with 230/225 nozzle temp and 50 for the print bed.
