Description

Wallace and Gromit are from the British clay animation comedy series created by Nick Park of Aardman Animations.

Wallace is a good-natured, eccentric, cheese-loving inventor and his companion Gromit is a silent yet loyal and intelligent anthropomorphic dog.

No supports are required. If you have the right filament colors, no painting is needed.

The completed model is 250mm tall after assembly. The individual figures are independent and you can print just one or the other if desired.

Enjoy!

Building the model

Colors (there are no multiple printed pieces)

Important note: Even though the arms and shirt should be the same color, I just could not get a filament color that would work for me, so I ended up with the arms as a different color than the shirt.

Printing and assembly tips

Printing Tips:
1-No supports are required.
..
2-I used a brim on a few pieces and had no failed prints, use your discretion based on your own preference:
-gromit_ear_right, gromit_ear_left and gromit_tail all have small bases and have steep part angles. I printed them all together with one overlapping brim.
-arm_left and arm_right are also pieces with relatively small bases and larger angled parts.
-head has a smallish base.
..
Assembly tips:
-The diagrams below will help in assembling the model which is quite straightforward.
-The model is meant to be glued together.
-In case you mix up the shoes, they have the lower part of the dents facing outside.
-Glue the eye_blacks into the eye_whites and then insert the completed eyes into the heads.
-Wallace's hand simply rests above Gromit's head, there are no dents in either part for a fit and therefore there is no need to glue the two figures together.
-The teeth fit easily into the head, simply glue and insert the bottom teeth first ensuring they are all the way in and centered. Then glue in the top teeth making sure they are centered and are glued to the upper lip.
-I glued gromit's completed head to his body and after the glue dried I then glued and inserted his ears.

Brilliant & Funny to build. Changed the colors on some items. Earth brown and army brown for Grommit. Shirt of Wallace cotton white, spencer matte olive green. Trousers earthbrown. Printed on combi of Creality K1C and K2ProCombo. Parts have a good fit and glueing was easy.

Great job! Always good to see when makers upgrade the filament colors. My filament library was not so large when I originally made this model. I've pinned this make. Teamwork, Steve

Epic. Totally epic. I printed Wallace at 200% and did the 205% Grommit. They still compliment each other perfectly.

Thank you for pointing out the print profile issues. Personally, I do not support print profiles and am happy the makers help. Is it possible to contact the owner of the print profile and have them update it? Great print. Thank you for taking the time to post your make. Teamwork, Stevce

Print Profile
Gromit only - 2 plates (AMS)
I printed this at 205%, which was the biggest I could make it on my X1C / A1. I also combined the head, eyes, and pupils into one piece and printed using my AMS for a more seamless look. if the creator of this model allows profile uploads, I’d be happy to share it.

such a clean look. You said airbrushing, is that on top of colored filament or over white? Beautiful job. Teamwork, Steve

Hi Steve, the filament was BBL White Matte, I first applied some primer (light grey) and airbrushed over this. It only concerns the ears and tail of Grommit and the hands, pants and face of Wallace.

When I started to model, matte filament was not an option. When I did the Old Hag my wife was fortunate to find a matte black. Since then, I've been sold on matte filament. Another fine print form you. So funny to see your makes on Makerworld! Teamwork, Steve
