Description

These are two-sided coins for the North Sea trilogy of games by Garphill Games, including Raiders of the North Sea (32 coins) and Shipwrights of the North Sea: Redux (50 coins). You have a choice in what you wish to print:

  • Plate 1: One side is in relief (raised) and the other is intaglio (carved) in order to allow it to be printed face down without support. This makes a thinner coin without the need to remove support, but it’s not quite as nice.
  • Plate 2: Both sides are relief (raised), which does require support. After printing, remove the thin layer of support carefully so small pieces don’t stick in between the symbols on the coin face.

You can see a photo that shows what both types look like. Both plates have 25 coins on them, so pick a plate and print it twice.

I printed these in Basic PLA Bronze, and they have a nice texture—not as quite as heavy as metal, but they do make a nice sound when you rattle them around in your hand.

I recommend using a plate with excellent adhesion. I used my newer textured PEI plate that was freshly washed.
