Description

Non-adhesive direct-fit mount for all Viofo A129 Duo / A129 Pro rear dashcam units when fitted inside nearly all MK7 / MK7.5 Volkswagen Golf models (2016-2021), including the SportWagen, Alltrack, GTI, R, and standard Golf. This method provides a seamless way to lock in a rear dashcam without applying adhesive to the interior surfaces of your VW, thereby improving strength, angling, and stains caused by tape-based application.

The wide-flange mounting plate clips tightly into the center of the rear panel, as indicated by the photos, ensuring a level angle. To attach, remove the stock adhesive mount from the dashcam by pushing left/right, and then attach the printed plate using the connection cube designed for a lock-in fit to the camera itself. Once the camera is locked to the plate, open the trunk and hook the print over the top and then the bottom corners of the rear panel for a direct fit at the center of the windshield. Lastly, thread your attachment cable through the cable-routing point to connect your camera to power.

This iteration (and corresponding photos) was printed in Sunlu PLA+ filament with 25% infill. PLA will allow a slight flex of the plate to attach to the rear panel, but also provide plenty of strength to grip tightly with minimal warp - this is an easy print job without modifications for the user.

In addition, a prototype using Overture PETG-M with 100% infill was done for maximum strength and temperature resistance - additional flex helped mounting, and no warp was detected with internal vehicle temperatures up to 155°F / 69°C, tested with a black car, black interior, and direct summer sunlight for 12+ hours a day. This is the better option for long-term viability, but it will be harder to calibrate to your specific printer standards.

For OPTIMAL PRINTING, it is recommended to:

  • Only mount the camera in the direct center of the rear panel, as moving left or right will result in poor attachment due to the panel's natural curves and shrinking length.
  • Print the file in the orientation provided to ensure maximum strength and little support requirement.
  • Supports will be necessary - organic tree is recommended for the easiest and cleanest removal.
  • Mounting order detailed in paragraph 2 should be followed for installation; other sequences may result in fitment issues or damage.
  • Use care when hooking the plate onto the rear panel, as unnecessary pulling/tugging can result in clip or other damage.
