Extended Stacyc Footrest (12/16e)
Print Profile(1)

Description
As the kids get older, the stock footrest on our Stacyc 16e proves to be too narrow. It is great when the kids habitually put their feet down as the stock footrest prevents little legs from being undercut. However, as they improve their riding, the small footrest proves to be lacking.
To solve this, I designed a footrest that mounts exactly like the stock plate, but the pegs are wide enough for the growing little feet. I printed some other versions off of MakerWorld previously, but the mounting proved to be insufficient and they kept breaking. This was the case regardless of material (PETG, PETG-CF, even PET-CF and PA-CF). I found this was solely due to the reduction of rigidity through minimizing the print size and removing mounting points that distribute the loads.
In addition, the other versions I printed did not cover the hole in the bottom of the frame leading to potential water ingress into the location of electrical components.
This print has seemed to solve all of the aforementioned issues. It uses the stock hardware, so no further purchases required. I printed my test piece out of PETG-CF to prove fitment and it was perfect. Several crashes and hard drops from toddlers and no failure yet. If this one breaks, I will be testing with a more substantial Engineering Grade material such as PA612-CF (water annealed).
Hope you enjoy the file.
