  • N52 Magnet - 1/8" x 1/2" x 1: https://totalelement.com/products/1-2-x-1-8-inch-strong-neodymium-rare-earth-disc-magnets-n52-24-pack

Description

This holder should work for all sewing machine bobbin types, but it is specifically designed to best work with Class M (industrial) bobbins. It will not work with plastic bobbins as the magnetic feature requires a metal bobbin. :) The magnet keeps the holder on the machine at the same time that it holds the bobbin in place. The bottom wall helps keep the thread tail tidy.

In order to make the bobbin holder magnetic, you need to insert the magnet mid-print. This is very simple and easy, but it is imperative to do this with the right magnet and at the right time.

The bobbin holders are designed using this specific magnet: https://totalelement.com/products/1-2-x-1-8-inch-strong-neodymium-rare-earth-disc-magnets-n52-24-pack
Can you use different magnets? Probably, but we can only speak to it working with these magnets.

If using the standard print profile and 0.4mm nozzle, a pause should be added on layer 21 for you to drop your magnets in. If that is different for, just be sure to add the pause in the last layer before the magnet hole is covered.

Adding Text: We are a husband/wife team. The wife created the text as an SVG and the husband added it in Fusion360. The blank option is ready for text. I suggest playing around with spacing and text size to fit the text aesthetically. We prefer to make the text 0.6mm tall.

Mess up and need to remove the magnets? Personally, I use a thread burner (amazon associate link) to melt a hole into the bottom of the bobbin holder. Please be mindful as it is a small object you are holding next to a very hot rod. Be gentle as you don't want to break the tip of the tool. Alternatively, you can use some pliers to cut it out, but I am speaking from experience when I say it's not as easy.
