Boost Me (for free)
Well,I had a crack to make it customisable so you might be actually able to use it !
I wanted a tissue box that would fit the kind we buy, I wanted some surface pattern options so it would look more than ‘plain’. I could not find anything that would do that for me ‘as is’
My fusion skills are not up to task yet, so I turned to Openscad. Now, I'm not a coders bootlace (even though I've written some code many times over many years) - I'd rather put my learning effort and time into fusion.
FULL DISCOLOSURE:
this scad script has been written from scratch using AI - chatgpt, then finished off with perplexity pro. It wasn't pretty, maybe 15-20 hours of iteration and testing/retesting. I added in the BOSL2 library to get some texture options.
Customising:
-the dimensions are INTERNAL - so just measure your tissue box for fit and adjust accordingly
-add a few mm if your are rounding to accommodate the loss of dimension from doing that
-the patterning stops at the lid/base height so that it does not interfere with the press fit
-there's no pattern on the press fit lid/base it didn't bother me , but I appreciate it might trigger some OCD'ers , sorry!
Printing:
-the 3mf is just there for example, go customise and get your very own
-nothing special to print, I used Jayo PLA+ on my A1, nothing to do with the model, but the pics show I'm having corner lift probs which I have to fix
-depending on dimensions you might , or might not, fit the 2 pieces on the one build plate -customise, download the 3mf, split to objects and arrange according to fit.
-orient the pieces to avoid support - the big box hole side down on the plate and the lid open face up.
Kudos to those that can code this stuff in the proper way, I mean no offence by using AI.
I'd just be happy if you find this model useful. Re-use the code , make some money even, maybe even end up with a tissue box holder that replaces that ugly oversized thing you've been using for years !!
cheers,
Chris
****EDIT 14/9/25***
I realised the makerworld customiser render/generate was stuffing up , even though I was getting correct objects via Openscad. (MW was generating a positive object for the lid negative space - so you'd get 3 objects in the 3mf instead of 2)
I've fixed the script and uploaded, tested a makerworld customise and Openscad export and get the same results now.
Apologies - should be good to go on the customise
