Description

Asus BT10 is a great router, but due to the lack of a fan, it runs hot and might reduce its longevity and performance. This is a problem for those using this router in a hotter climate.

This custom 3D-printed holder is designed to provide active cooling for the ASUS BT10 router, improving performance and longevity by keeping temperatures under control.

  • 60mm Fan: A 60mm x 25mm PWM fan is mounted inside the holder to deliver efficient airflow directly to the router.
  • USB-C Fan Controller: The fan is managed by a compact 12V PWM controller powered directly from the router’s USB port. No need for an extra power adapter.
  • Adjustable Fan Speed: A side-mounted control knob allows you to fine-tune cooling performance and noise levels to your preference.
  • Replaceable Dust Filter: A printable fan filter is included to help reduce dust buildup inside your router.
  • Sleek Integration: The holder blends seamlessly with the router’s design while elevating it for better airflow.
  • Wall-Mount Option: By swapping out the holder’s original feet, you can mount the router on a wall with the wall mount bracket.

Wall Mount Configuration

*Note: Personally, I did not wall mount it. Hence, there is no picture of the holder being actually mounted on the wall.

Temperature without active cooling averages around 75°C.

Temperature with active cooling averages around 50°C at 70% fan speed.

Non-Printable parts list required for this model

  1. 60mm x 25mm 12V PWM fan
A high static flow fan is recommended. From my testing, both fans offer similar cooling performance
Noctua NF-A6x25: Expensive, better performance and lower noise
Thermalright TL-B6W: Affordable, slightly noisier and lower static pressure.

  2. 12V PWM USB-C Fan Controller
Dimension of the fan controller should not exceed: LxHxW 45mmx18mmx23mm
Make sure to choose the version with USB-C and PWM port on the opposite end like the image below.

Non-affiliated link to purchase the fan controller can be found here: Aliexpress, Shopee, Taobao

  3. Screws
1 x M3x8mm Pan Head: For “PWM Fan Controller Lock” piece.
4 x M3*16mm Pan Head: For both the regular feet or wall mount bracket to the main holder.

4 x M4 Countersunk Head: For attaching the wall mount bracket to the wall. Length of the screw will depend on your wall material.

  4. EVA Foam Tape
2mm Thick & 15mm Wide. Paste at the bottom of both “Feet” for anti-slip and noise reduction.

Note: I'm also working on a non actively cool holder for those that wish to wall mount their router without the active cooling function.

Any feedback on how I can improve this design is greatly appreciated!
