Description
This remix of the Master Sword from Neebick has been completely reworked internally to provide a stronger structure, better balance, and modularity for future upgrades.
Main Features & Improvements:
- 6mm Steel Rod Core: The entire sword has been filled and designed with a 6mm central channel that houses a threaded rod, running from the tip of the blade to the end of the pommel. This dramatically increases rigidity and durability compared to the original hollow version.
- Weighted Handle System: A set of 13 M10 nuts is housed inside a dedicated compartment in the grip, along with a M6 nut that secures the whole system to the central rod. Additionally, 4 M10 nuts are embedded into the pommel mid-print. Together, this counterweight system gives the sword a more realistic feel, greatly improving balance and control during handling.
- Modular Blade Attachment: Thanks to the inner rod and nut system, the blade can be removed and replaced. The blade first slides out a few centimeters, and then the remaining threaded section can be unscrewed. This allows for future custom blades (such as a corrupted version) to be swapped onto the same hilt.
- Reinforced Blade Connection: The blade and guard still use the embedded friction-fit features of the original design, but now they are fully solid and include the channel for the rod, making the connection far sturdier.
- Improved Cross Guard Assembly: The guard is split into two mirrored pieces for easier printing. To strengthen the join, rectangular slots and hexagonal recesses of two different sizes have been added, allowing for a more reliable glue bond where it matters most.
- Jewel Lock Adaptation: The original jewel locking mechanism is kept, but has been adapted with a pass-through hole for the threaded rod, ensuring compatibility with the reinforced core.
The entire sword is assembled with glue except for the grip compartment (which must remain movable for blade swaps) and the jewel lock.
This remix was designed with functionality in mind, giving the sword a sturdier structure, a more natural weight distribution, and the possibility to reuse the same hilt for multiple blade variants.
Materials Needed:
- 1x 6mm threaded rod (1 meter length)
- 13x M10 nuts (for the handle compartment)
- 4x M10 nuts (to be embedded in the pommel mid-print)
- 1x M6 nut (to secure the weight compartment to the rod)
- Super glue or epoxy (for guard, blade, and hilt assembly)
Future Plans:
If this model receives enough support, I plan to design a Corrupted Blade version that will be compatible with the same reinforced hilt.
