Coyote Cranium and Mandible
Print Profile(1)

Description
High detail cranium and mandible that I segmented from the high resolution computed tomography scan of a coyote (Canis latrans) (CT source: https://springernature.figshare.com/collections/High-resolution_computed_tomographic_HRCT_image_series_from_413_canid_and_18_felid_skulls/7296568).
Parts are solid containing no internal surfaces. My photos show the print with 0.16 mm layers, 3 wall, and 8% gyroid infill. I use tree supports with:
- a 25 degree threshold
- Top Z distance = 0.16
- Top Interface Layers = 2
- Top Interface Spacing = 0.
Be careful removing supports on the inferior surface of the cranium. Matte PLA makes support removal much easier. I used Sunlu matte PLA in bone white. I printed these on a Bambu A1. The mandible will fit on a smaller printer such as the mini but the cranium will not when printed in this orientation.
Cranium and mandible articulate well with high detail in the dentition. Great model for a zoology class, comparative anatomy, a forensic science class when discussing scavenging marks on bones, or to demonstrate differences between human and non-human crania (quadruped vs. biped).
Generic 3mf on Printables.
