Description

The TH3D Lighting Kit is the best lighting kit upgrade I've tried for my P1P. It's slightly tougher to install than the magnetic BIQU Lux, but it's better, more uniform lighting. The main issue is that you have to stick them kind of arbitrarily to the side of the frame. Someone made some easy clip-on mounts (that TH3D also sells printed versions of) that work wonderfully to point the lights down at the build plate without getting in the way of anything.

However, this created two problems for me. One, those LEDs are super bright. That's great for the build plate, but blinding if you walk up from the side - which I always do. Second, the 3M adhesive started to come loose and I kept having to push it back on. So I created a hollow version of that original mount that has just enough room for you to thread the string of lights through. This works best if you don't remove the cover for the adhesive. But if you have, like I did, it helps just to stick strips of paper to them to kinda replace the cover.

I printed them out of PETG because I had translucent PETG and they work well. But the best part is that if you want to replace them with any other type of filament, like one that won't deform in an enclosed printer, you can just pull them out and string the lights through another set. I plan to make a white one to see if it offers more diffusion without blocking the light.

The tolerances are extremely tight, so if you have issues threading the lights through, make sure to check for burrs around the edges or stringing in the opening. Tweezers also help with threading.
