SPINOSAURUS - 3D PUZZLE

BRIEF MODEL DESCRIPTION:

Since the discovery of the first bones of this dinosaur, it has been subject to various interpretations, initially resembling a tyrannosaurus, and more recently described as a combination of a swimming sauropod and a carnivore. If you wish to learn more, please refer to the following link:

WHY CHOOSE THIS MODEL?

Most puzzle-type dinosaur skeleton models are derived, and in many cases identical, to the patterns used in schools during the 90s and 2000s. These models were designed to be hand-sawn from 3mm thick plywood sheets, resulting in typically rough "bones". This design choice was logical, as delicate components would have easily broken during the sawing process

For my designs, I have also drawn inspiration from these older patterns, but I have leveraged current technical capabilities to incorporate more accurate skulls, ribs, vertebrae, and assembly patterns that resemble real dinosaur skeletons. In the following image, you can compare a classic Stegosaurus model with my current design, where you can quickly appreciate how the dorsal plates connect to the ribs, and the enhanced level of detail in elements like the skull

In this image, at first glance, you can see how the development of the Smilodon (saber-toothed tiger) skeleton system has consistently strived to remain faithful to the animal's true anatomy

Furthermore, efforts have been made to align the designs with the latest scientific theories regarding dinosaur skeletal structures. In the following image, you can observe a classic Spinosaurus skeleton, based on the older interpretation of discovered bones that somewhat resembled a tyrannosaurus, alongside my design, which is more consistent with the currently accepted scientific interpretation

ASSEMBLY:

Most pieces are marked with numbers or letters to aid assembly. This is because the model consists of numerous parts, and assembly could be challenging without some guidance

PRINT PROFILES:

I am providing two print profiles for Bambu Lab: one for the skeleton parts and another for the stand. The stand profile includes four plates that can be combined to form the base. There are simpler or more complex options available, with single or multiple colors

All parts are also uploaded in STL format, in case you do not have a Bambu Lab printer

DOWNLOADABLE STLs:

You are welcome to use the skeleton parts to create new versions; however, please credit me as the original author if you do. I originally designed this dinosaur for laser cutting, and it required many hours of work

DOWNLOAD LINKS TO OTHER MODELS IN THE COLLECTION:

Below, you will find a series of links to other skeletons that you can also download for free. Simply click on each image, and you will automatically be redirected to the respective page:
