Description

This is a complete 3D-printed rig designed specifically for the Sony A7SIII.

The set includes:

  • Camera Cage: it has multiple 1/4″-20 mounting holes for monitors, arms, or other gear.
  • Quick-Release Top Handle: slides into the cage and locks securely with a screw.
  • Ergonomic Side Handle: slides into the cage and locks with two screws.

All three parts are designed to work together as one integrated rig.

Hardware Required

To assemble the rig you’ll need the following (all shown in the photos):

  • 1 × 1/4″-20 x 8 mm screw (wide head) – secures the cage to the camera
  • 1 × 1/4″-20 × 15 mm screw – secures the top handle
  • 2 × 1/4″-20 × 12 mm screws – secure the side handle
  • Allen key and screwdriver for tightening the screws

Assembly Instructions

  1. Cage – Place the camera in the cage, align it, insert the 1/4″-20 screw from below, and tighten with a screwdriver.
  2. Top Handle – Slide the handle into the cage slot, align the hole, and secure with the 15 mm screw.
  3. Side Handle – Slide the handle into the cage slot, insert the two 12 mm screws from the big hole on the side of the handle, and tighten.
  4. Double-check everything is secure before shooting.

Printing Recommendations

  • Layer height: 0.2 mm
  • Walls: 3–6 perimeters for strength
  • Infill: 60 % or higher (I used 100%)
  • Materials (recommended):
    • Nylon (PA-CF or PA-GF) – best choice for rigidity and heat resistance
    • Polycarbonate (PC or PC-blend) – very strong and heat-resistant
    • ⚠️ ABS / ASA – acceptable mid-tier option if you have an enclosure
    • ⚠️ PETG – minimum acceptable material for lighter setups
    • PLA not recommended – softens in hot environments (sunlight, lights, cars) and may deform

Notes

  • Designed for the Sony A7SIII. Other Alpha bodies may fit, but not tested.
  • For heavy accessories (large monitors, cages with batteries, etc.), stronger filaments like PETG or nylon are recommended.
  • Printed with ELEGOO's Centauri Carbon.
