Are you sick and tired of your hair accessories not allowing enough self-expression? Have you felt limited by the burden of big-hair-fashion dictating what your hair fastening choices can be? Do your hair sticks tend to fall out of your well-manicured, well-oiled hair? Well, finally, all your woes can be remedied with one single hair accessory! Introducing, the Twisted Stickster - a customizable hair stick where you can be in control of what your hair says about you all while holding back your hair with a level of security that you and your therapist can only dream you could have.

The stick itself has a slight twist in order to stay put in hair without tugging, snagging, or breaking hair. The ornament at the end can be changed out thanks to the way the stick and ornament are screwed together. The system of the stick and ornament being held together by a separate screw allow for all pieces to be printed with minimal support.

The original plate comes with the stick, a set screw, and a standard Sphere ornament. I'm also providing a few custom ornaments separately (the cello and bear head) to show how this can be customized. There's also the adapter on its own, which can be attached to anything you want to affix to your hair stick. For best results when creating your own, the adapter should end up being 8mm x 8mm x 7mm.

Also, after printing, be sure to rinse with water and allow to fully dry (or cotton swab the inside to get out residual water). If it's a bit difficult to get the screw in, using pliers has helped a lot to get it in the first time. Alternatively, you can get the set screw that was used to model this: ¼"-20 X ½" set screw (we found them at the local Lowe's) and use that to help open up and set the female ends on the stick and ornament first. After the first time or two of getting a screw all the way in, it should be much easier.

Note! Basic PLA is recommended for this print. We've also used PLA Tough,  PLA Matte, and PLA Translucent with pretty good results. PLA Silk - while it turns out super pretty - does not seem to be a feasible material for this. It often splits when inserting the screw (both the ornament or adapter and the stick have split). If it doesn't split, the stick itself tends to snap pretty easily. Silk just doesn't seem to be strong enough to support this model.

If you give this a go, please let us know how it goes - especially if you try out a different material or profile settings! Open to suggestions and recommendations for improvement :D
