Enma – Zoro’s Legendary Katana with Motion-Activated Light & Sound

Inspiration & Design
This model is a faithful 3D recreation of Enma, the legendary katana wielded by Roronoa Zoro in One Piece. Designed with great attention to detail, it features the iconic purple sheath, golden ornaments, and red tassels. When activated, the blade glows with a vivid aura in purple tones, reflecting the supernatural power of Enma as shown in the anime. To complete the set, note that its companion katana, Ame no Habakiri, is also available.

Technology & Features
Equipped with the MakerWorld Motion-Activated Sound & Light Kit, the katana includes:

  • Authentic One Piece sound effects (unsheathing, slashing, and more).
  • Dynamic LED lighting with multiple colors inspired by the anime.
  • Motion activation plus manual control via button and mobile app.

3D Printing & Materials

  • Total length: 103 cm.
  • The full list of recommended filaments and colors is available in the Bill of Materials section.
  • No glue is required for assembly (except for a single decorative piece). All other components are securely connected with the 3D printed parts. Optional glue can be used for additional reinforcement if desired.
  • The AMS is only required for the bottom part of the blade (1 plate); the rest of the parts can be printed without it.

Assembly & Structure
The internal design is modular and fully detachable, allowing easy access to electronics while keeping the katana sturdy during display or cosplay. The scabbard and handle fit together seamlessly, and the detailed guard and golden inlays give the katana an elegant finish. A full step-by-step assembly guide is available in my YouTube video for easier reference.

Highlights

  • My very first katana design, and also my first project integrating light and sound.
  • A unique cosplay or display piece for One Piece fans who want Enma brought to life.
  • Designed as part of a duo; pair it with the Ame no Habakiri model for the full Oden-style display.

Printing tips

  • Golden pieces may look better when printed individually, depending on the filament you use.
  • Vertical thin parts are difficult to print, feel free to add any extra supports you may need, or lay them flat (although this will definetly lower the quality of the print). I used the supertack printing bed.
  • If you want a stronger katana, apply glue on every joint.
