Description
I remixed this model for my Lasius niger queen, to use once she has more workers and can move out of the test tube. I redesigned it for gypsum casting and added a hydration chamber where water can be poured, plus space to insert a test tube for auto-hydration.
Changes include:
- enlarged holes for heat-set nuts (M3, M4),
- a partition to open/close the nest entrance,
- a connector in the passage for attaching a tube (Ø inner 7.5 mm, outer ~9.5 mm).
For assembly you’ll need:
- 2 mm acrylic glass (64×44 mm)
- 4pcs M4x10 mm bolts
- 4pcs M3x5–6 mm bolts
- Heat-set nuts (4pcs M3x3x3, 4pcs M4x6x6).
⚠️ Note: You may need to slightly rescale the partitions and feets to fit properly.
The screenshots show my first version, where the wall with the tube port had a hole because it was too thin for the printer to render properly. The uploaded model has this issue fixed - the wall is now solid and prints fine.
Printing recommendation:
Print the main parts in PETG with standard settings. The feets are better printed in TPU.
