Description

Although Gridfinity bins have been arround for some time, there's always something that you don't find in any of all the generators online or in the Fusion Gridfinity ADD-IN, and that for me was the simple input of the bin height in external mm and not in units. IF i want my bins to be 31mm , i hate to stay to calculate that in generators that have all units, to add or not the stackable lip…etc…

So, i made my own quick height generator and share it with you all those beginners or advanced users, that might find it very simple to create this way your own bins, especially because i have posted few items here that uses bins in mm not in units (find storage boxes for bins in my posts : https://makerworld.com/en/models/1706082-gridfinity-storage-box-acrylic-plexiglass-lid#profileId-1837661 )

MY BINS are same exact bins you find everywhere to download, have 0.25 clearance on each side as standard is… but are made with shelled base, so i don't waste so much time and filament to print that thick 7mm base (never failed on me the shell base even for 3x3 bins ).

  • Are built so you can make even a 2.6mm wall thickness in case you need for very big ones (most generators can't). The sweet spot in my opinion is 1.2mm wall for small ones and 1.6 to max 1.8 for large ones filled with metal hardware, like 2x3 and 2x4.
  • I offer only version with stackable lip included in the input height. (top most lip thickness is 0.4 and not point sharp hard to print).
  • I posted here only shelled base ones, but i also have the hollow base (full base 7mm) ones in parametric fusion files in case you ask for.
  • I added to customize 4 parametric files for shelled base (simple, label, middle divider), choose that option first.
  • The label option is with the filament saving in mind, made it just 3cm long and 1cm wide, perfect for 9mm labels, and made it to stay centered on any Y axis grid input (you can have it on the short side or on the long side). Also made it only 1cm wide to be able to let me  customize bins down to 22mm height as i needed them stacked in my ALLIT big box).
  • Added just few step files to inspect easy if you need.
  • The base grids are not posted here as i don't see the need to change anyting , i think for those you will be faster with the official generators like the Fusion Gridfinity ADD-IN.

For some estethic reason, i find it much safer to print the 1.2mm walls bins with the setting of outer wall first (because of the stackable lip, if i put inner wall first, it leaves a weird line on outside that lip ( not just for my bins, for any official generator downloaded too). (see last photo)

Please be aware that if you customize this model in MakerWorld and then download it as an STL/3MF  file, the downloaded version might have a lower mesh resolution than the original. Curves may look slightly faceted. This seems to be a MakerWorld issue and more and more people push MW to increase STL size limits, is not related to the model itself.

If you're not happy with your STL/3MF slicer preview after download, i can help you, just PM me with your exact customization and i upload a fine quality STL/3MF in my Google Drive, and give you a link to download it from there, or i add a print profile here.
