Description

The popular aid for the smallest pupils to learn to count. It helps practice addition.

The model has been printed, print settings verified. The print was then tested by kids and found by them to be fun!
Update note March-2024: The print profile was updated to improve printability and get cleaner texts on the front-side.

Learn by self-evaluation

It's fun when kids can learn on their own without the boring teacher correcting them all the time.
With the wrap-ups, the children evaluate themselves and can keep trying and training the task again and again on their own with no hassle.

How to assembly:

Easy. Print the one plate with all pieces. Stack the key-shaped pieces on the rivet. Thread a string through the hole in the rivet. Let the long end of the string hang from the back side. Secure the rivet by stuffing a larger knot or small bead into its head. You are ready to go.

How to use (for the kids):

You start winding from the starting notch.
Lead the string from the notch on the left to the correct answer on the right.

Then go under the plate and return the string back to the left side, take the next notch in the row. And so.
After you finish counting and winding, flip the plate around.
The string should match the pattern on the backside.
And if the string does not match the pattern? No worry. Just unwind a bit and try again.
Unsure with the counting? Just try and check yourself. No red mark, no bad grade. Just fun.

How to print:

The design is purposely simple to make it very easy to print.
No fancy tricks needed. It's simple rookie's print job.
Any easy-to-print material will do (PLA, PETG or so…).

Enjoy ;)

hey, this is a phenomenal idea! my kids loved it! unfortunately the plus three printed without the sandwich middle part. so you can see the black lines through the dark pink. is there any way I could get just the plus three with the sandwich part in it? I tried cutting it in bamboo studio so I could just use the plus three but that took out all the color. it would be really helpful to have the plus three with the sandwich middlel part.

Making this as a single object is absolutely insane. Do you expect failures to mean reprinting the entire thing? This was a new one for me. You have three bodies, each of which contains some color information, and none of which are the individual parts. This makes it *impossible* for Orca Slicer/Bambu to reprint an individual part. I had to write a program to find the individual meshes in order to split it so that I could reprint the two objects that didn't work the first time. Can you re-export using a more reasonable part structure? Maybe just one body? Or one object for each part?

Sorry, I can't help you with Orca, I use only BambuStudio. The print profile prove to be reliable, I personally printed it hundreds of time with no issues whatsoever (as I sell the prints on my small e-shop too.) If you want rearrange the objects, or print just one plate, you can always you the "Cut [C]" tool. The whole model is organized as an sandwich-like-assembly of parts. the middle part act as filling with contrast color which prevents the letters and the line-patterns to be visible through to whole object to the other side. Some brands filaments (mostly PETG) turned out to be semi-transparent, without the sandwich structure it won't work properly.

Replying to @ma3d.cz :
As always, if you cut it, you lose all color information. As mentioned, my statements apply to both Bambu Slicer and Orca Slicer. Also Super Slicer and Prusa Slicer, for that matter. The print may prove to be reliable on your printer, but expecting that you need to print the entire thing every single time is...well, not good design. A single failure on just one object shouldn't mean throwing out the entire batch because you couldn't be bothered to save things as multiple objects when you exported it.

Uhm, let's say you have the string on the left side in notch with "3" mark. The plate has the big label "+2". You read it as "3+2". The correct solution/answer is "5". Thus you lead the string to the notch on the right side with "5" mark. Then you continue the next example by leading the string to the left side into the next notch bellow the precious... and so on... I hope this explanation helps.
