The Sui and Tang Temple of Heaven was built in the tenth year of Kaihuang of Sui (590 AD) and was used for about three hundred years until the first year of Longji of Tang (889 AD), and was abandoned after the capital was moved to Luoyang at the end of the Tang Dynasty It has a history of more than 1,400 years, nearly a thousand years older than the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, and is the earliest existing imperial sacrificial building in China, truly deserving the title of "the first altar under heaven"
