Greater Horseshoe Bat Cranium and Mandible 5X
Print Profile(1)

Description
This is a remix of a microCT model of the cranium and mandible of a greater horseshoe bat (Rhinolophys ferrumequinum) originally published by the Mammal Research Institute, Poland under CCA license. I cleaned it up as described below to make each part solid and more print friendly. The skull was also very small so I scaled it up 5X.
My changes to the original model:
Since this was a microCT model, I cleaned out the internal surfaces and solidified the cranium and mandible to make them more print friendly. I also scaled up the model 5X because it is really small. My workflow for cleaning up CT/microCT models is in this video.
Printing:
I printed these with 0.12 mm layers, 2 wall, and 10% gyroid infill, tree supports with 25 degree angle--set top interface layers to 2, top interface spacing to 0, and top z distance to 0.2 for easier support removal. You'll need some clean up on the parts touching the bed, but a kitchen torch will smooth it out.
The models have very high detail and sharp teeth that articulate perfectly. Great for educational use but it's also a creepy looking skull if you want some spooky decorations!
In my images, I printed these in Sunlu matte bone white PLA, esun bone white PLA, and Polyterra dual matte black/white PLA.
I have also shared a generic 3mf on Printables.
