Description

I designed this to allow testing of the Angle of Attack system AOA Port on the Van's Aircraft RV-12 during the Production Acceptance Procedures (PAP) AOA test. Hopefully Bob will find it useful.

You will need to get some suction cups. I used two large and one small suction cups from a bag of suction cups I got from Amazon for $6. https://amzn.to/468HayR

You will need to glue (RTV, E6000, etc.) the small suction cup to the threaded screw AFTER you thread the screw through the bar. You also need to glue the hose barb to the knob end of the threaded screw. The large suction cups can be inserted in the groves by twisting them while pulling them into the grove. See the attached photos.

After the glue has cured you will need to burn a hole through center of the small suction cup so air can pass through. I heated a small metal rod (a rivet mandrel) cherry red and melted the hole pretty quickly.

Apply a little bit of moisture (spit) to the large suction cups to attach them to the wing. During my testing the tester stayed attached for over 3 days, YMMV, depending on the quality of your spit ;>). Of course, you should only need this to stay attached to the wing for 10 or 15 minutes during the actual test. Adjust the screw as necessary to achieve a good seal to the AOA Port. This definitely works better than modeling clay!
