   We are Rarecho® Studio, a product design workshop dedicated to creating modular and customizable product series for everyday life and work. Our designs are inspired not only by practical needs but also by trend culture and DIY spirit, which we love to weave into every creation.    From the very beginning, we’ve dreamed of building a non-commercial, open-source project—something that lets more makers explore fun ideas with desktop-level tools. After connecting with the brilliant team at Bambu Lab, it felt natural to launch our very first open-source project.          This project carries forward the playful creativity of our trendy toy product series Armpal®, but redesigned and optimized specifically for Bambu Lab devices and DIY enthusiasts. The result is this decorative model.

“Design Features and Use Scenarios”

  • 2.5D Creative Effect: Instead of a traditional flat blueprint, we designed a framed 2.5D model that gives the illusion of depth—making the airplane look as if it’s leaping straight out of the drawing.
  • Perspective effect: The combination of a wooden frame and a PLA shell presents a three-dimensional airplane body, not simply a 3D restoration of the appearance, but allowing the internal structure to be seen through the shell, which better aligns with the blueprint theme of the entire frame.
  • Size: We designed a splicing structure to achieve a frame size of 585✖️283mm within the workpiece size that the "Bambu Lab" device can produce. This not only brings a stronger visual impact but also gives us space to showcase more internal structures. Of course, this size is not only suitable for display but can also be used as a real picture frame to hang on the wall.
  • Details: We selected some details to make the frame interactive, with manually rotatable propellers and manually movable ailerons. It also showcases the iconic design of this model - the wing passage for engine maintenance (you can see the maintenance engineer is also depicted). Additionally, we provide sticker files, allowing you to create water transfer decals or PET/PVC transparent stickers to complete the logos and decals on the aircraft.
  • Nameplate with backlight: We used the Maker's Supply kit as the backlight source for the nameplate of the picture frame, further enhancing the visual experience of the entire frame.

    We believe this is a sufficiently refined decorative picture frame suitable for placing or hanging in a home or studio, and you can also enjoy an interesting assembly process.

  Laser Cutting

   The main frame and the inner frame of the fuselage are made using laser cutting technology. The materials used are Bambu Lab's "3mm Basswood Plywood - YA001" and "3mm Black Opaque Glossy Acrylic Sheet (3pCS) - YB001". All part interfaces have been meticulously designed and tested multiple times, allowing for perfect assembly without the need for any glue. We have optimized for both 40w and 10w laser cutting modules. We will first upload the production files for the 10w module, and the files for the 40w laser module will be uploaded subsequently.

   Currently, the production file process is only optimized for the Bambu Lab materials we listed. If you attempt to use other materials with similar 3mm thickness, assembly issues may arise due to tolerance differences. If you wish to use boards of other thicknesses, please leave us a message to let us know, and we may upload the corresponding production files in the future.

   Additionally, please note that when using the 10w laser cutting module, the power limitation will result in slower processing speeds. The slower ablation process may cause edge carbonization, which is normal. Before assembly, please sand the cut edges with sandpaper to prevent carbonized powder from contaminating the model body.

 

  3D Printing

   For the shell part of the body, we used PLA material and created it through 3D printing. We ensured the integrity of the shell to the greatest extent, reducing the seams caused by splitting the whole into parts, to enhance the model's refinement. The current version of the printing configuration file has undergone multiple rounds of testing and adjustments, ensuring a good printing success rate and stability. If you encounter any issues during the printing process, please let us know by leaving a message, and we will continue to optimize. If you have better printing experiences and configuration methods, please let us know, or you can directly upload your optimized printing configuration file. We are very eager to hear your advanced experiences.

 

  Other Auxiliary Processes

  • fuselage logo stickers: You can obtain the production files on the 2D file page, replace the Bambu Lab's cutting module, and use the post-print cutting function to directly work with an inkjet printer. We recommend using Waterslide Decal Paper for materials, but thinner PVC/PET transparent stickers can also be used as substitutes. If you wish to process using your own methods, you can also download the PDF source file of the stickers in the attachments.
  • Background blueprint: This is the only accessory that cannot be produced using Bambu Lab's equipment. We have prepared the source files for printing and detailed production process instructions. You can use printing equipment that meets the printing format requirements to produce it yourself or choose to have it made at a quick print shop.
