Description

Boost Me (for free)

Have a spare boost? Feel free to drop it here! They help me get more filament and tools so I can design more cool models!

If not, that's okay too - There are a ton of other great models to boost in the future!

This easy to print & assemble lantern can be yours in less than an hour.

It features a screw-on lid that allows easy access into the main compartment to hide items or putting an LED ball inside.

I specifically didn't add additional equipment to hold a ball to allow for different designs of Mini-leds inside. Additionally, while walking it looks to ‘flicker’ due to the changing position inside.

Designed to work with or without AMS, just requires 2 filament colours. (Ideally Black & White)

Taking inspiration from a minecraft lantern, while being compact and easily attached to a wallet, bag, or wherever!

I also took some inspiration from my other lantern keychain, however, I wouldn't consider this a ‘remix’ as I had to re-model everything to fit the top back on.

Print profile uses 2 plates - One with the main lantern intended to be printed in ‘black’, and another with the ‘shades’ intended for ‘white’.

Optional Additional Parts:

  • ‘Balloon’ mini-led balls, fits anything ~15x15mm for light up
  • Superglue if printer doesn't have good tolerances.
  • Optional Keychain kit to attach.

Instructions:

  1. Print 1x of each item except for the shades; of which you'll need 4.
  2. Slide the shades into the ‘base’
  3. Attach (Optional super-glue) the ‘lid’ to the ‘base’
  4. Insert Optional LED ball
  5. Screw the lid on.
  6. Profit

PS: Please Post your Makes! I love seeing them and always try to comment on them!

What kinda issues are you seeing? Most of the issues i've seen users have is due to filament. You could try increasing the resolution to something like .16; or using adaptive resolution.

2 Plate - Multicolor
Support Issue:Large unnecessary supports for the top portion. Very difficult to get rid of them both after it's printed as well in the software itself. I don't know if there is an issue with the software or how it was designed. Also the top plate which the top portion screws into does not seem to be modeled correctly to fit the lower portion. The posts on the lower portion does not fit into the top plate. I should probably take photos but if you printed it you know what I am talking about. Other than that it printed well. Just not really usable so I am not sure how the other folks printed it.

I printed several of these without issue - ala the photos. So would appreciate some photos on your end. The tolerances are pretty tight, it might be a tolerance issue on your end.

Replying to @OtakuMx :
I recently reprinted these. I think I know where my original issue was. It looks like the top is held on by the four panels and doesn't click into the posts themselves. Because the tolerances are so tight it makes the 4 "posts" (the pieces that are on either side of each panel) bow out. Hard to glue also when they are bowing out. I will have to fiddle with the tolerances a bit. Maybe print it a mm bigger than the original but keep the panels the same size. Might be a bit but I'll re-review once I get it worked out.

Could you take a photo and show what you are seeing? They should clip into eachother. Depending on your printer, you might need to print at a higher-res or slower speed. I've had quite a few makes from other users on multiple printers, so unfortunately this might be a slight issue with your printer or filament. But if you upload a photo, I can try helping!
