Description

🌱 Project: Self-Watering Planter Inspired by a Tree Trunk 🌱

Hi everyone!
I’d like to share my latest project – a self-watering planter designed to look like a natural tree trunk. The idea came from wanting to combine functionality with a touch of nature – after all, plants look their best when surrounded by something that feels alive and organic.

✨ Functionality

The planter features a hidden self-watering system that allows the plant to absorb water gradually, avoiding overwatering. Perfect for anyone who sometimes forgets to water their plants or spends time away from home.

šŸŽØ Design & Materials

I modeled the planter to mimic the texture and look of tree bark.

  • For printing, WOOD filament or different shades of brown filament work perfectly to create a realistic trunk effect.
  • If you enjoy painting, grab your airbrush! With just a bit of shading, you can transform the planter into your very own ā€œtree stump.ā€ You can go for a fresh bark look, an aged texture, or even add mossy details for extra realism.

šŸŒ Why this project?

This planter is not only practical but also eco-inspired. By combining 3D printing with natural aesthetics, we can create designs that blend into our living spaces and bring a little bit of the forest indoors.

šŸ“· Inspiration

In the photo, you can see how it looks with African violets – a tree trunk at first glance, but actually 100% 3D printed!

I’d love to see your interpretations – whether you try different colors, experiment with finishing techniques, or even add your own twist like cracks, moss, or unique bark textures.
