Magnetic Haptic Coin Fidget (Parametric)

Want something to distract your fingers? This magnetic haptic coin has a smooth and tactile feel that will quickly get you addicted. The haptic coin utilizes a bearing and magnets to create a soft and tactile click along with a smooth rotation. The scallops provide your fingers with enough traction to easily turn the coin. In its stock configuration, it uses a 6702ZZ bearing from maker supply and 6x3 magnets for that perfect balance between smooth and tactile.

This model is also fully parametric. You can use Makerworld's built in feature, or download the F360 file and edit it there. All the parameters are already made for your convince. You can change the number of scallops, bearing size, number of magnets, magnet size, and tolerances to fit your printer. The possibilities are endless. 

In the attached print profile, everything is already set up for you, there are pauses for you to apply sharpie to the support interface for a clean and easy support removal.

During the first pause, apply sharpie in the light blue areas:

During the second pause, apply sharpie to the light blue areas, make sure to cover the entire support surface:

After printing, carefully remove the support material. Then you can add in the magnets. On one side add the magnets in like this: 

On the other side, you can put the magnets in 2 ways: 

The first way provides a more tactile feel while the second way is smoother. For 6x3 magnets, I recommend the first option, but for 8x3 magnets, I recommend the second. If you decide to use different magnets, you can experiment with different combinations.

If you are making your own print profile, add pauses in these places to apply the sharpie:

One on the layer the first overhang prints, and one on the layer of the bridging.
