Description

Birds that explore and play are happier, smarter birds. This foraging toy for parrots is primarily for birds at the cockatiel/conure size or smaller. Larger birds can use it, but they might wreck your lids constantly. It allows them to search and be rewarded for looking in all of the cups. Fill each cup with a little bit of treat or just some of them as your bird gets a little too good at it. ;) There are FOUR difficulties of lids in the print profiles.

  • Start with the easy lids. These will stay on when not being touched, but a bird can actually push them to the side. This should help your bird learn the mechanics of the toy.
  • The medium lids require that the bird definitely pulls the lids up to open the cups. This is a more complex task, although they should be able to adapt quickly.
  • The hard lids will require more coordination and skill, especially for a small bird like a budgie or parrotlet, but is still doable even for those little buddies.
  • The sneaky lids are what you change to once your bird is getting this whole thing down. Instead of putting the food in the cups place it inside the lid's compartment itself. Birds will have to remove the lid and then manipulate it to dump the food from inside. The hole is only ½" (12mm) in diameter; easily safe enough for even the tiniest birds.

Print the lids in one color or in multiple colors. Hide the treats under the same lids each time or mix it up. Print way too many or only what you need. (Come on, don't lie. We all know you're going to print too many.) Just remember that this isn't for you, it's “ferdabirbs.”**

If you've got birds, I have more models! Check out my other bird-related widgets:

**Apologies for everyone who had MakerWorld translating automatically. That was a terrible meme version of “for the birds.”
