Description

Crimp and Pinch Training Block

This block has been designed as a versatile, all-in-one training tool, suitable for climbers of every level.

It features 25 mm, 20 mm, 15 mm, and 10 mm edges, along with 80 mm and 100 mm pinches, providing a wide range of grip options to suit different training needs.

 

The design is the result of extensive iteration, with every detail chosen for maximum effectiveness and comfort. Larger edges include 6 mm fillets for a forgiving feel, while the smaller edges use tighter 3 mm fillets to maximise edge contact. Fillets have also been added to bottom of each edge, creating a smoother, more premium feel during use.

 

For surface finish, I used the perlin fuzzy skin texture at 0.2 mm point distance and 0.2 mm thickness in OrcaSlicer. If printing in Bambu Studio, I recommend the included 3MF preset with 0.3 / 0.3 mm settings. In OrcaSlicer, I achieved a subtle textured feel by setting top surface flow to 1.2 and using a Hilbert curve pattern.

 

In terms of strength, my test print used Bambu Matte PLA with 5 walls, which comfortably supported 80 kg on the 25 mm edge. For added durability and heat resistance, I recommend printing in PETG HF with 6 walls.

 

This model is designed with supports for best results, though experienced users with confidence in their printer’s bridging capabilities can attempt a support-free print. Supports remove cleanly with pliers or snips.

Printed with PETG, looks perfect, maybe PETG will be a bit slippery on this, but still looks perfect
