Five Field Kono Game
Print Profile(1)

Description
Two players each try to get their pieces across the board to the opposite side. The first to occupy their opponent's starting positions wins the game. In addition to moving one's own pieces, part of the strategy is to prevent enemy pieces from moving towards their goal.
- The board is initially set up with each player having five pieces on the points in their back row, and two more directly in front on the left and right edges of the board. This is shown in the image.
2.. Players randomly decide who will move first. Players take turns playing.
- On their turn, a player can move a single piece.
- Pieces move one step diagonally forwards or backwards.
- A piece cannot jump over another.
- There are no captures in this game.
- Only one piece can occupy a point at a time. Therefore, it is possible to block the opponent's pieces from moving.
- The game ends when a player has moved across the board, occupying all points where the opponent started.
- If a player leaves pieces in their initial starting position to permanently block the other player, their opponent can win by occupying only the squares they have vacated.
- If neither player can get past the other, then both can agree to the game as a draw.
