This deck box is an oddball! It is not box shaped at all! It was inspired by the traditional taoist symbol of yin & yang, but with my own twist. The deck box is composed by two halves, each one curved and smooth. Each half harbours a secret inner compartment where you can store your cards. Each half can contain up to 60 single sleeved cards, for a total of 120 single sleeved cards.
WARNING! This model requires A LOT of magnets! :)
Cards
This deck box fits 120 single-sleeved standard 88 mm x 63 mm cards. This is the default format for Magic: the Gathering and Pokemon cards.
Printing instructions
This is quite simple. Print plate 1, then print plate 2. Choose the colours you like the most!
Printing suggestions
- Suggested plate. Smooth PEI
- Suggested nozzle. 0.4mm
- Suggested layer height. 0.2mm
- Suggested infill. I used 5% because the model is quite big and I didn't want to use too much filament. I found 5% infill is decent for a reasonable print time and it feels solid enough. If you want to be on the safer side, go for 10%.
Assembly instructions
As I mentioned earlier, this model requires a lot of magnets!
- (16) 6mm x 2mm magnets will secure the connection between the card containers and the card cover, which sits on the inner part of the complete deck box.
- (16) 8mm x 2mm magnets will secure the small drop-shaped latches that hold the two halves of the deck box together.
I intentionally avoided using drop-shaped holes so that circular holes would print out quite tight, which allows for a tighter magnet installation. I do however highly advise that you use super-glue to securely attach the magnets in their holes.
Remember to always check magnets polarity during installation, and make sure they face the correct direction to be able to close!

Tolerances and clearances
- It is impossible to design for all filament types
- My models are designed and printed using Bambu Lab printers and Bambu Lab filaments
- If you use other filament types (different materials) or vendors (different brand), the result may differ. Before posting issues about tolerances / model tightness / loseness, please consider the filament you used for the print.
- Even with the same filament, results may vary (different settings, humidity, ventilation, etc…)
Common print troubleshooting
- Adhesion. Ensure you clean your print bed regularly with quality dish soap and water. Use of a releasing agent like Magigoo is advised. This advice is only applicable to PEI plates. Please consult your build plate manufacturer for detailed cleaning instructions! If you still have adhesion issues, try using a Super Tack or a BIQU cool plate; or add an extra brim to the model.
- Material. My prints are all PLA. Use other materials at your own risk. You will likely need to tune the printing profile.
- Temperature. Cold air and drafts can lower the quality of the print. Ensure your printer is located in an environment with stable temperature.
- Drying. Drying PLA is not a requirement, but be aware that over-drying can cause layer detachment.
