Description

Theese are print in place hinges, customizable in many ways (modelled with cones inside the knuckles, and not with the classic pins).

My hinges have a feature that i needed and nobody offered it parametric, so i'd like to share it.

It's about the knuckle outside diameter that can be changed independent from the base thickness. THIS ALLOWS A HINGE like in my last picture for who wants that in some projects.

Choose 3 knuckles version if you want a tiny hinge with a tiny diameter, for ease of print.

My hinges  have no holes for screws, but for a reason. You drill them with any size drill bit you want, but most important, you choose exactly the hole location (thing impossible for me to make parametric and i didn't want to make many versions with different holes locations).  (set infill and perimeters bigger than normal, to drill into).

If you don't have a drill bit (that would be the fastest way for job done),  and if you want the holes 3d printed, that needs manually adding them into slicer after customization or edit the faces of the STL downloaded if you have some few basic skills in CAD/Fusion… (Or, simply look for other posts with customizable hinges with screw holes in it)

I added a step file for whoever wants to inspect inside the hinge.

Keep in mind, for small diameters knuckles, like 2 and 3mm, if your project requires such a tiny hinge, you should not use clearance more than 0.10 - 0.14 mm as if you go too large, the hinge may split apart in use. See my profiles (tested with 0.1 clearance with PLA+ and workes fine. Initially were stucked, but after just a tiny bit of force in the first bend, was all good). If not happy, increase clearances sideways or to the base plate.

I am over the moon with how tiny this created a working hinge. I needed a working hinge that was 8mm x 14mm, created it, printed it, and did not expect it to work. I bet my husband it wouldn't...I'm out $10 just so you know! It was stiff in the beginning but by the time I walked out to show my husband it didn't work, it started moving and after a few times it works beautifully! This will get imbedded into a midieval door with faux ornated steel work. Thank you for making my life so much easier!

Glad you liked it...yeah...i modelled to be easy to configure from tiny to very big. This is why i added customization for any clearance one might need...i did many tests before posting this models. looking closely at the print quality ...for those small hinges is reccomended to print with 0.12 layer hight ...and slower...

Replying to @Mihai_B_Mike :
I appreciate this customization so much! I can finally make doors function with ease and I don't have to try to make each hinge in each size that I need. I embelish them for the time period they are from so having the option to make the wing longer or shorter is perfect for my use. I do have one question though, is it possible to make it so you can change each wing length different? It's not a big deal as I can always trim them to fit what I need, it was just a suggestion to add to the customizing. I know nothing about the customizing program so don't think you have to add anything for me, it's just a thought.
