Sim Pedals – DIY Construction

 

 

These self-built **Sim Pedals** are a robust and cost-effective solution for use in racing simulations. All parts are optimized for 3D printing and can be made with commercially available filaments.

 

Throttle and Clutch use Hall sensors

Brake uses a 200kg Loadcell

Materials & Print Settings

  • **PLA (Standard):** For less stressed parts
  • **PLA+ (Sunlu):** For highly stressed components
  • **TPU (Shore 95A):** For elastomers
    • Recommendation: 15% infill, 2 walls
  • **Print settings (all PLA/PLA+ parts):**
    • 4 walls
    • 20% infill

Base Plate

  • Material: **12 mm plywood**
  • Dimensions: **400 x 400 mm**
  • Equipped with **TPU feet** for better grip and vibration damping

Hardware

All necessary standard parts are readily available (hardware store or online retail):

  • **Screws & Nuts:** M3, M4, M5 (various lengths)
  • **Washers:** M3, M4, M5
  • **Springs:** Tension and compression springs suitable for pedal mechanics
  • **Plain bearings/bushings:** 8 mm (for smooth pedal movement)
  • **Axles/Rods:** 8 mm steel or threaded rods
  • **Wood screws:** for attaching the pedal unit to the base plate
