Stone Man of the East Han Dynasty (Stone Man of the East Han Dynasty)
Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220 CE). Height 150, chest width 50, sitting height 20, maximum width 110, maximum length 80 centimeters. The stone figure is in a standing posture, made of bluestone, with a flat face, double droopy eyes, wearing a net on its head, dressed in a long robe, with hands clasped in front of its chest, a plain long slab, also known as 'Shield-holding Stone Man' or 'Manacled Stone Man'. The carving of the stone figure is simple and unadorned, with the part below the back and waist appearing almost natural, a conforming base, natural and rustic, excavated from the Yongding River bed in Fengtai District.
In 2014, it received funding for restoration from Bank of America Merrill Lynch's global 'Art Conservation Project'.
