Description

This design is about as minimal as it gets for an open-air PC build, great for testing, CPU mining, or just as a regular old computer.  The footprint is only as big as the motherboard, which mounts onto a bracket that sits securely on top of the PSU while allowing unrestricted air intake.  Standard case screws (6-32 or M3) work perfectly with a little bit of force to thread them into the standoffs, or small self-tapping screws will thread in even easier.

Standard PSUs are 5.9 inches/15 cm wide, but length can vary, so there's profiles for multiple PSU lengths:

  • 5.5 - 5.75 inch (14 - 14.6 cm)
  • 6 inch (15.25 cm)
  • 6.25 inch (15.9 cm)
  • 7.5 inch (19 cm)

If your PSU size isn’t covered or you want it to fit like a glove, the design is split into parts so you can easily reposition the back rail and corners to size (use the move button to move them in a perfectly straight line).  You will likely have to adjust the length of the side rails as well.

Note: There's another version of this for full ATX motherboards

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Each profile comes in two versions:

  • ITX: For small ITX boards with a single PCIe slot in the first position.
  • Extra slot: Extends the GPU support for boards that place an NVMe drive in the first slot, like many mATX boards

Printing recommendations: Use a heat-resistant material such as ASA, ABS, or PETG. PLA is not advised as it will likely deform. Each profile includes an inner brim to minimize the potential for warping. Supports are removed very easily and are required for the corners, and optional for the GPU support (recommended for a cleaner result, you will need to pry a bit out of the triangle at the top). The thinner vertical sections include a height modifier that slows wall print speed to reduce wobble and stringing; with PETG, you may wish to slow it further if your filament isn’t fully tuned.

The design is great for odd use cases like my out-of-the-way mini mining rig I use as a seasonal space heater
