Description

This is a design for a resin 3D printed mold using Thermacast resin. This is a special heat tolerant resin from Monocure that can be used for casting metal with a somewhat low-temperature melting point like pewter. More info here: https://monocure3d.com.au/product/thermacast-3d-printer-resin/

THIS MOLD IS NOT FOR FILAMENT PRINTERS OR STANDARD 3D RESIN FORMULAS ----- THERMACAST RESIN ONLY.

There are 2 molds that can cast 3 different weights. The small mold will make 3 weights from 20-30ish grams. The larger mold will make 3 weights that are 30-40ish grams. The molds use a 2mm diameter stainless steel rod about 100mm long that is cast in place. There is one file for each half, just mirror the STL to get the other half.

It prints similar to a standard resin, but you will likely need to reduce your exposure time a bit to get the best dimensional accuracy. It is translucent white, so there is some light bleed. I cut about 10% off my standard exposure time. Do a Boxes of Calibration test for this resin.

There are more instructions on using these molds in my build thread here: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4080263-Learning-to-cast-a-sailboat-bulb-in-7-000-easy-steps-an-epic-tale-and-tutorial/page8

You really need to read all the info at Monocure and my thread about the details on how to design and print with this resin. It is a bit different than what you are probably used to.

I have other DIY parts in my Sailboat collection here and many build threads about RC sailboat projects on rcroups.com : https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4090921-Cool-build-bro
