I designed this to propose to my now wife.

RING SIZE IS IMPORTANT!

Model is designed for rings with smooth bands.  The print profile includes combinations for US size 4.5-8 and band width of 2mm and 2.5mm.  See the below chart to match the file name for the ring size.  I suggest printing a couple of sizes to account for variance in material and ensuring you get a snug fit.

Tolerances not just right?  If you need custom dimensions, use the customize option to adjust parameters in Makerworld. Max ring size is around US size 11, but depends on gem size.  Max ring width ~4mm.

Assembly

  1. Place magnets into top and bottom inserts, being careful to align magnetic forces to close box.
    1. Stack two(2) 6x2mm magnets in each hole.  Alternatively, us one(1) 6x3mm or one(1) 6x4mm.
    2. (Optional) A dab of  superglue to keep magnets in place
  2. Place inserts into top and bottom of box, being careful to align the magnets in the front. Fit is intentionally tight to keep everything together.
  3. Insert piece of filament as hinge pin.  Depending on tolerances, this may require some force.
  4. Trim filament hinge pin to length and flush with edges.

Upgrades

  • Metal hinge pin - I have had success with 2mm brass rod as a hinge pin, but it requires cutting and filing metal rod to size.  As of writing, Bambu Lab maker supply does not offer brass rod long enough for use.  Bambu Lab maker supply does offer steel rod which would be more difficult to cut to size.
  • Felt interior - On the print I used to propose to my now wife, I used sticker felt to cover the inside to give it a bit of a premium feel.  It can be found on Amazon.
  • Add a Design - I added a design to the top from a photo to make mine unique.
