Description

After attending an ISLE workshop, I thought it would be fun to design some vector arrows such that they could change length. Here is the design I cam up with! The design includes an embedded magnet, which should be inserted before the print finishes. Magnets come in different sizes, the models use magnets as described in the file name, specifically:

  • 10 mm x 5 mm x 2 mm (smallest, weakest, but also cheapest)
  • 10 mm x 5 mm x 3 mm
  • 12 mm x 5 mm x 3 mm (shown in the picture, very good results!)
  • 20 mm x 5 mm x 3 mm (largest, prefered for the large kit)

With these kits, you can have students show examples of an object speeding up in the positive direction or negative direction, or they could show the velocity decreasing in the positive or negative directions. You could also use these for force diagrams as well. A lot of possibilities! You can use the gcode I have included if you have an mk3.

If you don't want to add magnets, you can also attach velco for a similar effect.

Please also consider printing the Energy Bar chart model for students to use in understanding conservation of energy.
