Project Title: Glow-Within Bio-Reactor with Embryo
Description:
This model was created specifically for the MakerWorld "Glow Within" contest. My goal was to design a project that not only glows from within but also tells a compelling story. The result is a bio-reactor where a 3D-printed embryo is suspended and illuminated, creating a dynamic and fascinating display.
Design Concept:
I drew inspiration from sci-fi movies and scientific lab equipment. I wanted to build a functional and interactive model that looks like an incubation chamber. This project is the culmination of that idea, featuring a glowing embryo inside a carefully designed reactor.
Key Features:
* Multi-Material Design: The model consists of three main 3D-printed parts: a black hexagonal base, an internal cradle, and a top cap. The transparent chamber is made from a repurposed PET bottle, which is a clever and eco-friendly solution.
* Dynamic Lighting: The heart of the project is a USB light source placed in the base. An integrated button on the side allows you to turn the light on and off, adding an interactive element. The light creates a dynamic, flickering effect that makes the embryo appear to be alive.
* Detailed Base and Cap: The base features the inscription "DnA" (referencing DNA), while the cap has "LAB" and a small heartbeat symbol, emphasizing the scientific theme. These details are hand-painted to give the model a professional and finished look.
* The Embryo: Inside the chamber, a 3D-printed embryo is illuminated from below, creating a captivating glow that is especially striking in the dark.
Printing Details:
* Base and Cap: Black PLA filament.
* Embryo and Internal Cradle: I used a translucent filament to make the glow effect more pronounced.
* Chamber: A trimmed PET bottle.
I hope you enjoy my model and that it inspires you to create your own!
