Description

The model is 0.40mm high. I printed at 0.12mm layer height on a smooth plate with top surfaces ironing on. I left the default 0.20mm initial layer so the final print ended up 0.44mm actual height with three print layers.

My ironing wasn't perfect but it was good enough. Another option to get an even smoother finish is to mirror the model and use the print bottom as the actual top of the finished piece.

Glue on smooth plate gave me a great finish (even though my ironing could use some calibration with silver PLA). If you can be patient and let the plate cool — or even put it in the freezer for a few minutes — you'll have great results without any warping. Either way, a good thin double-sided tape should work to install the pickguard when you're ready.

If the print doesn't match your guitar or shape exactly, a nice thing about thin PLA is it's very easy to cut with scissors.

If you want to keep the same thickness but resize, scale NON-uniform in the X and Y directions while keeping Z the same. For reference the diameter of the sound hole on the guitar I used for design is right about 103mm (or ~4.06 inches). If the math is too much, let me know and I'll resize it however you need :).
